sit and sip. a design. an inspiration.

Here’s the skinny. We bought a new house. A number of rooms are either half finished or lacking any real furniture. I am one of those girls who really needs to {think} on it before making any real decisions. Sometimes good. Sometimes bad. To me, there is nothing worse than rushing to get a room decorated, standing back to admire and not loving what you see. Good news? Polyvore is my new best friend. Yes, it is true, I did get sucked into a deep, dark hole once again. But, I do think I found a source of inspiration for one of our rooms. That’s good, right?

In the next few months, we are going to do a little rearranging of rooms. Moving an office to a more enclosed area {seriously so hard to get much done when you don’t have doors. yowsa!} and hopefully making some time to decorate some of the unfinished rooms.

One of those rooms is what we like to call the {sit and sip} room. A few months ago, I found this ridiculously amazing piece at a flea market. Once we brought it home we realized it was way too big for our family room, so we had to come up with plan b.

Don’t you love it? I am smitten with it each time I walk by.

Plan b? We are creating the {sit and sip} room in our existing office, which is really meant for a living room. My other half has always wanted to try making wine and this past Father’s Day he got a winemaking kit to check off one of those items on his bucket list. Needless to say, he has been feverishly making some different batches of wine that we will be able to {sit and sip} in the upcoming year.

Where to start? Well, our flea market piece serves as our inspiration and a way to store all of his beloved bottles. The rest of the room? Here is what I have in mind. Kind of love. A lot. I mean a lot, a lot.

What do you think? The bright side is that a majority of the pieces are somewhat reasonable, for once. The chandelier is oh, so gorgeous but I may need to go on a treasure hunt for something similar or find a way to make it myself. I am not sure the husband would love it I spent $2,500 on a chandelier. Right? I love a good treasure hunt, so this is right up my alley.

I will keep you posted on our progress and show off a final look once I have the room finished. When will that be? At the rate I am going, who knows. To find links and specific information about each product follow along and visit my polyvore board here.

May you create some boards of your own. Or, better yet, if you likey what you see  become my follower. Follow along on my Polyvore adventures here. My plan? A board of the month. Are you in?

design. inspiration. love. polyvore.

          Oh my goodness. I think I just found love. Well, right in line after my one-of-a-kind hubs {you are way better, babes}. I warn you. There is the possibility that you may get sucked into a deep, dark hole. But, I assure you that once you get yourself out you will be all smiles.
         I am sure you have heard or browsed some adorable outfit creations on Polyvore compliments of Pinterest. {And, yes. I may just start some outfit inspirations myself. That could be a little too much fun.} Well, Polyvore has just dived into the world of decorating. They are now creating a way for you (yes, you!} to create your own decorating sets.
         Call it inspiration. Call it shopping. Whatever you call it, it is one way to get a little focus for your decorating task and to do it with a smile. Me? Yes, in love. You? You can create some decorating sets yourself. Or, the other option? Well, you can be my follower and be in love too {without the work}. Visit my Polyvore site here. Who knows? You may just find a few things that are a ‘yes, please’, for your own house.
What’s not  to love?
  • You have  a simple way to hone on what you love and what you might call, “not my favorite”. {oh, I should probably mention that in our house we have a rule that you can’t say “i don’t like that.”. Instead, you are more than welcome to say, “It’s not my favorite.” I know. We just might have issues. But, it works and is music to my ears when I hear the kids say it, especially during dinner time.}
  • Each added piece gives you a price and shopping link. Kind of good. Kind of bad. {This just cemented that fact that I kind of have pricey taste. Oh boo.}
  • Ever since we moved into our house we have an overwhelming amount of unfinished, “not my favorite” rooms. Too many. Too much. But, this just might be my ticket to completion. My goal? I am going to create a set {board} for each of inspiration rooms. Yeah! Now, if only I had time.
  • Um, fun. No more to say. Right?
So, I now introduce you to a little lady that I call, {polyvore project decorate}. Hello, if I had no kids or messy handprints, room of my dreams. Well, for now anyways.

         Isn’t she a beauty? If only my kids didn’t have dirty hands and I had new hardwood floors. {Babes, did you catch that?} I only kid. This? This is a room that would make me smile each time I walked in. I like to think of it as a twist on a suburban girl’s loft. Are you with me? And, with Polyvore you even get a list of everything you included in your set in the event you want to purchase it. I am sold.

         A blog I follow and love {I don’t want her to think I am a stalker, but I think we might be soul mates. Her house could be mine!} has a great small business shop with too, too cute prints and a blog that documents her new house. Meet Dear Lillie. She is cute and you just might love her too (but not more than me, right?}. A few weeks ago she posted about a contest she was hosting that gave a you a chance to create your own Polyvore board and I was hooked, line and sinker. {Is that right? I think so.} And so, I pass on the good news to you.
         May you create some boards of your own. Or, better yet, if you likey what you see  become my follower. Who knows, maybe I will have a board of the week. Now wouldn’t that be fun? Time to start shopping.

try. enjoy. share.
