a few of my favorite things. silly, but true.

Yes, this might be a silly post. But, I just think you need to know about my three new favorites. Normally you can count on my to pick out the most expensive thing, but I am kind of proud of myself for these three gems.

Who knows, maybe they would be a perfect stocking stuffer for someone you know. Or, maybe you are browsing your local store and think you might just need them too.

fave thing. ONE.

Don’t laugh. These are seriously my absolute new favorite. They cost my less than $12.00 at Walmart and I am one happy girl.

Ever since our house has burned down I have searched high and low for the perfect tweezer. I have spent a ridiculous amount on one pair from Sephora and then went the cheap route, but still couldn’t find the perfect pair.  That is until I spotted these gold beauties. You can find them in-store at Walmart or look online.

| what you need to know |

  1. They are cute. Gold is the new black. Your eyebrows think so too.
  2. The slanted titanium tip ensure the perfect tweeze. It holds and pulls. Perfect.

fave thing. TWO.

I seriously love this soap. I will not lie when I say that I have 4 extra bottles stashed in my linen closet. When I see it, I buy it. It has found a home in the kids’ bath {new counter reveal coming soon!} and our playroom bathroom.

| what you need to know |

  1. It is cute. And, matches the decor in both bathrooms. You should know that I think soap should always complement bathroom decor. Sad, but true.
  2. It smells delicious and doesn’t dry out your hands.
  3. If I am lucky, Home Goods or TJ Maxx has it for less than $5. Heck, ya.
  4. I love it so much that I found it in bubble bath and hand cream. They are keepers.

fave thing. THREE.

These are so good. I found them at our local market, Nugget, and I can’t get enough of them. They are chewy and supposedly have grains that will make any girl happy. There are four different flavors and I just might be in heaven.

| what you need to know |

  1. Grab one and put some peanut butter on it and you are ready for the day.
  2. Toasted and with some cream cheese and turkey is another twist that I just feel in love with.
  3. Simple. Easy. Perfect for on the go.Screen Shot 2015-12-16 at 10.02.52 PM

{pretend I am singing this next part in a really good voice… probably better than julie andrew}

These are a few of my favorite things... maybe yours too? Three favorites that should make it into your home. What are some of your favorite things?

tassel necklaces. don’t you want one?

Here’s the skinny. I was the MOPS craft leader for a group near me. Right up my alley. So much fun. And, it gave me a chance to try some things that I have always wanted to diy.

First craft project? Tassel necklaces, otherwise known as the cutest thing ever. I’m not going to lie. I have about 5 different colors hanging in my closet. That is how much I love them.

Well, after the project was over I just couldn’t stop and went out to buy more leather for more necklaces. Then I was left with a pile of leftover leather. That’s where you come in. I guess you could call it your lucky day.

Just look at how cute they are.

tassel necklaces

Don’t you want one? Pretty please? I am trying to clear some stuff out of my craft room and check some things off my list. It’s a win-win for both of us. Maybe one for you and one for a friend. Visit my shop and pick of a tassel necklace for yourself. Here’s a quick preview of what you can find {for now}.

tassel necklace

For now, I have a limited quantity {i’ve already sold some of the bronze, you’ve been warned} so snatch them up quick. Hopefully, I will add a few more when I have a little more free time. But, in the meantime, won’t you follow along and buy one?

Visit me over at Etsy and would you be oh so kind to… tell your friends, share on social media, and TELL YOUR FRIENDS.

who knew? four clubs that make life oh so easy.

It is not news to me when I find out I am not in the loop about something totally awesome. It actually happens quite often. Why? Well, probably because I don’t Facebook {did you just die? I might be the only human in the world!} and I find myself living in a bubble at times.

Case in point… my sis-in-law {thx, m!} let me in on this little secret that is traveling around the fashion world. Have you heard? It is called Stitch Fix. Thank goodness she told me so that I could share with everyone I knew. She keeps me in the “know” and makes me sound uber cool around my friends.  Too bad I hadn’t read my Better Homes & Garden September issue that had been collecting dust. If I had, I would have had a little insight into her new find!

Thanks to my sis-in-law  and Better Homes & Garden I am sharing with you four new phenomenons {why didn’t I come up with them?} that just might make your life easier and your daily mailbox run a little more exciting.

  Clubs from BHG Your own personal styling service?

Trendy new nailpolish colors?

four summer shoes. just for you.

Tis’ true. You know it. I know it. I love shoes. Aren’t they really just another way to make a statement?

For you, something to ring in the summer season. I am calling it {four summer shoes for you.} Kind of catchy. Kind of cute. Kind of need them in your own closet. Don’t you think?

I will start by prefacing that I have personally tried out of all these shoes and they get my stamp of approval. They are the perfect combination of cute and comfy, which is now a must given that I am usually walking, ok really chasing, after my three little peanuts. I like to think of it as the {four} shoes that will get me through summer while looking stylish and being realistic. Wedges? Yes, I still love you. But, I now save you  for those special occasions. Isn’t that sad?

{summer shoe one}

unify sandal

I love these. I can’t say it enough. Love. They are my absolute favorite and the perfect shoe to pair with some boyfriend jeans, skirts or a blazer. A cute wedge, but not high enough that I pay the price the next day. And, the zipper up the back is a little extra accessory that makes me smile.

{summer shoe two}

navy and limeade anchors

Aren’t they too, too cute. Here is a fun fact about my shoe closet. I actually have NO {can you believe it?} casual shoes. I recently realized that a pair of comfy slip-ons were a necessity while running around chasing my lil’ five year old. He’s fast. Traction was a must. I stumbled upon these cuties and just about died. So cute. And,  now I’m pretty darn fast too.

They are the perfect addition to a casual weekday outfit or for our recent trip to Roche Harbor. Anchors while visiting the San Juan Islands? I know. It’s just too much.

Do you love too? Look at the other slip ons I found that just might be right for you. Maybe I need another pair now? Too bad, the mr. man says, “no”.

{summer shoe three}

A basic. Basic color. Basic style. But, with a little gold bling. These are my go-to shoes and easy to pair with any outfit. Who doesn’t love a shoe that goes with just about everything. The nude color not your thing? Well, they also have black and white. Can you really go wrong?

{summer shoe four}

Flippin’ flops as we call them in our house. Don’t we all need a pair of those? These I heart. But, I really have to hand it to the parental units. They are the ones with good taste this time around. These little gems were a birthday present that match a cute orange clutch they gave me for Christmas. So, if you love, thank them. I can always count on them for adding a little style to my wardrobe. Cute, functional {that word’s for my sis… she lives for function} and a splash of color. Hello, summer.

Do you love too? Look at the other flip flops I found that just might be right for you.

what {we} wore. napa style.

What {we} wore. Yep, you heard it right. This is a look into what {we} wore with a little twist on it. A little something I like to call {what we wore: napa style}. Now, even if you don’t have a trip to Napa planned anytime soon I am hoping you will still find a little inspiration and maybe a little something that would be perfect in your own closet.

Here’s the skinny. A friend and I had a chance to spend a night away {no kids, yeah!} and take a little overnight trip to Napa. {Though I must admit we actually stayed in Sonoma, not Napa, which totally ruins my title of this post. Oh well.} We had so much fun and it was the perfect getaway to recharge and refuel. We actually got to enjoy a cup of coffee on the balcony without any interruptions. What? When does that ever happen? It was kind of perfect, except we should have stayed two nights. Lesson learned. We already decided we are going again for a whole weekend.

Before I begin, I must share that my girlie, Sarah, was such a sport when I told her that we had to take {what i wore} pictures. She probably thought I was such a nutcase, but she did it for me {and you!} and went along with the whole thing. Now that is a true friend.

With that said, a few more pictures {it never gets less awkward} of what {we} wore in Napa. See anything you like?

summer must-have. brush on spf.

I found a new summer must have and I love it. It is one of those things that you see and think, “wait, they really make that?” As much as I would like to take credit for finding this amazing treasure I can not. The real credit goes to one of my girlies, Sarah, who had this summer must-have in her purse while we were on a weekend getaway. I saw it. I used it. I loved it. And, I think you may love it too.

What is it you ask? Well, a mineral SPF sunscreen, but I really call it heaven in a bottle. This is that absolute best for the face, the hairline or that middle part on Lulu’s head that I just can’t bring myself to rub oily cream all over. For me? Perfect.

  sunscreen

Why do I love it? Well, two reasons really.

One. It’s tiny.
It fits in a snack bag, purse or clutch. Easy to take with you anywhere and everywhere.

Two. Quick and easy.
It takes about two seconds to reapply as you bask in the sun. Quick and easy? Ok, I’m sold.

You can find Sunforgettable Colore Science brand at their website online or on Amazon. Not only that, they have refills that you can use to save some money on a whole new bottle. Smart.

1-unscreen

 You might even find this gem of a summer must-have on your own shopping adventures. I found a similar mineral sunscreen called Mineral Fusion while getting some groceries last week. Where will you find yours?

what i wore. spring style.

What I wore. Another one, but this time it is a little something called {spring style}. The reality is as much as I would love to be walking around town in gorgeous heels and a silk blouse I am really chasing after the kids. I don’t have the threshold I used to have for sore feet and I admit that my outfit choices do {sadly} revolve a little around my little cuties and their dirty hands.

With that said, a few spring essentials that will make you smile this season. And if you are lucky enough to throw on some cute wedges it will work too. A few of my favorite spring goodies that I think you might want to incorporate into your own closet.

spring outfit label

{have to have?}
Paige Denim skinny jeans ‘skyline ankle peg’ in light pink
denim shirt from Nordstrom
{sorry. it had this metal plate tag that i cut out because it itched my neck like crazy.}
floral belt from Lucky Brand
Kimchi Blue shoes from Urban Outfitters

Now that you have seen one of my go-to spring outfits you can find some for your own closet. There are two things that are my favorite this season. Maybe they will be your favorites too.

spring fave belt

I love this belt. Seriously, love.  So much that I even have two of them. One that is in the brown hues above and the other in blacks. They are an easy way to accessorize an outfit and give a little pop. Ironically, it is also one of those treasures from my closet that I get the most compliments on. Who knew a belt could be so eye-catching?

This belt was inspired by a little friend of mine named Ruby Jewel. She found these belts at Lucky a few years ago and I instantly followed suit. She is the best at mixing and matching outfits while still making them cute. To picture her you must picture an outfit hanging on a clothing rack at Anthropologie. Yep, she is one of those that can pull it off without a hitch. Did I mention she has a daughter in her mid 20s? She is the coolest. I hope to dress as cool as Ruby Jewel someday.

In my opinion, Lucky Brand has the coolest belts on the block. Just look how cute they are. You can find more by clicking on the picture and heading straight over to Lucky Brand. Just a tip, they are always coming out with new styles. Shop away.

Another favorite of mine. The perfect pair of pants.

spring fave pants

First, I have to tell you that I absolutely heart these pants and they go with just about anything. Any type of spring colored denim is pretty fantastic in my opinion. Though, I always give my Mr. Man a little surprise when I wear these because he says it looks like I am not wearing any pants at all. Well, I guess I will take that as a compliment? Regardless, they are cute and worth every penny. Some other spring colored denim that you might enjoy and want for your own…

3| Charlie Super Skinny in cayenne from Lucky Brand
4| AG Stevie Ankle Jeans in green from Anthropologie
5| Hudson ‘nico’ skinny overdyed jeans in suede rose from Nordstrom

Spring has sprung. I hope you find a little inspiration in {what i wore} for an outfit of your own. Time to do some shopping? Anyone else with me?

what i wore. vegas style.

What I wore. Another one, but a little twist on it. I call it {vegas style}. Now, even if you don’t have a trip to Vegas planned anytime soon I am hoping you will still find a little inspiration and maybe a little something that you would love to add to your own closet.

We had a chance to spend a weekend away with some college friends and met up in Vegas. Um, seriously so fun. Probably not the same Vegas trip young 20 years old have when they are there, but ours was the perfect mix of going out and relaxing by the pool. No kids. No bickering. No diaper changes. Yep, kind of perfect.

I had to pack a lot of outfits into one suitcase {you can never have too many clothes, right?}, so I worked hard to make multiple outfits out of a pair of black wedges and a black blazer. Layering was essential for me.

With that said, a few more pictures {still awkward} of what I wore and how one basic black blazer {that’s right, just one} goes a long way. Hopefully, you will find something that would be the perfect look for you.

outfit one.

{have to have?}
True Religion ‘casey’ red skinny jean from Nordstrom Rack

H & M olive t-shirt from H & M
Willow & Clay navy blazer from Nordstrom Rack
Lucky medallion necklace from Lucky
Lucky ’emmie’ metallic flats from Lucky
Tory Burch scarf from Nordstrom

outfit four.
{have to have?}
Halogen black blazer from Nordstrom
Moonlight ‘beaded’ blouse from Francesca’s
Paige ‘skyline ankle peg’ jeans from Nordstrom Rack
Lucky ’emmie’ metallic flats from Lucky
{let’s be real. i’m old. a night of dancing in my wedges? i ditched the flats and wore my flip flops. yep, it’s official my feet are not what they once were.}

outfit five.
{have to have?}
Halogen black blazer from Nordstrom
Moonlight ‘beaded’ blouse from Francesca’s
Hot and Delicious gold sequin skirt from Francesca’s
black tights from Francesca’s
Coconuts black wedges from Nordstrom

outfit six. {have to have?}
Halogen black blazer from Nordstrom
Fun and Flirt geometric print blouse from TJ Maxx
Mother ‘the looker crop’ jeans from Nordstrom Rack
Tory Burch ‘reva’ ballet flats from Nordstrom
{once again. after two nights of the wedges? feet now really hurt. we be flip-floppin’}

Six outfits. Lots of accessories. Using a black blazer for a few different outfits saved me a lot of space. I hope you have a trip planned and find a little inspiration in {what i wore} for a few outfits of your own. Time to do some shopping? Can I hear a, yes please?

Outfits for a warm Vegas Day. Lots of gold accessories. A smile on the face.
